Chamber Corner: Important events coming up

You have to love Illinois. We had a little taste of Spring last week and then a couple of days of snow, rain and sleet. Despite that, I believe we are still turning the corner to warmer weather.

It won’t be long and ballgames will be happening every night at the Park District, the ice cream shops will be open and school will be out.

But, before summer hits, just a couple of dates to remind you about.

This Friday is St. Patrick’s Day and our local establishments will be serving corned beef and cabbage. Plan on eating out at Konz, Cafe or Green River Country Club.

The 46th Annual Chamber Banquet will be held at Konz on Monday, March 26th at 6 p.m. Plan on attending this event. It’s $20 per person or $35 per couple. Dinner is included. Speakers and awards will be presented that night. We would love to see you there. Make your reservations now by contacting me at 815-866-9352 or director@walnutillinois.com.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 31st at Heritage Health.

The Walnut Rotary Club’s first cook-out of the year will be Saturday, April 28th!

The Spring Town-Wide Garage Sales will be held on May 4th and 5th. In addition to that, the Taste of Walnut held by WOW will be on May 5th. Stayed tuned for more information soon.

Finally, don’t miss Walnut’s Memorial Day program on Monday, May 28th.

Enjoy your week and shop Walnut whenever you can.
