Chamber Corner: Counting Down the Holidays
I saw one of those graphics on Facebook that counted down the days to all the big holidays left in 2018.
As of this publication date: 2 days until Halloween, 24 days until Thanksgiving, 57 days until Christmas and 65 days until New Years Day.
Are you ready? I know my kids are. They are already starting to make their Christmas lists. This year I challenge you to #shopWalnut as much as possible during the holidays. You would be surprised how much you can get in town. There are gift sections at Walnut Acres Country Store or Avanti Foods. The hair salons have a variety of products, jewelry/accesories and clothes. How about Bureau Valley clothes or custom made items from The Embroidery Shop? Don’t forget Pass it Along and all of their discounted items. Shell and Pit Stop are perfect stops for stocking stuffers. Need something for Dad? I guarantee the Hardware store or Fisch Ford has it. Dollar General also has a variety of items to choose from. A Walnut Leader subscription? Our restaurants have gift certificates available too.
For Halloween and Thanksgiving, our retail options should have everything you need now!
Speaking of the holidays, we will be releasing the schedule for Walnut’s Christmas Open House later this week. We can tell you it will be held on Small Business Saturday, November 24th. Students traveling to Washington DC will be holding a Pancake/Sausage breakfast, businesses will be having specials, there will be a Vendor Show and Santa will be in town! Save the date.
The Walnut Chamber of Commerce has once again carried on the tradition of having ornaments available for this holiday season with 2018 on it. This year they are an angel and if you would like one they are $5 each. Contact me at director@walnutillinois.com or 815-866-9352 if interested. They will also be available at local businesses soon.
As I close, continue to watch for farmers on the road as they finish their harvests and remember to shop Walnut this week.
