A new year is upon us and the Chamber has some important dates coming up.

In February, we will be conducting our membership drive again. The membership of the Walnut Chamber of Commerce is vital to maintaining the vision of the what the Chamber is about, promoting Walnut businesses and improving the overall economic climate. Membership is available to not only businesses, but individuals as well. Renewal letters will be going out in early February, but we would love to have some new membership. If you would like to receive a letter please e-mail me at director@walnutillinois.com.

The 47th Annual Chamber Banquet will be held on Monday, April 1st at Konz Restaurant & Lounge. We are excited to have Senator Chuck Weaver be our Guest Speaker for the evening. Cost is $20 per person or $35 per couple. That cost includes a full meal, plus door prizes and an enjoyable evening. We will be handing out a few awards during the evening as well. RSVP at director@walnutillinois.com.

During the Banquet will recognize new Hall of Fame members for the year. If you have a nominee that you think should be inducted, please let the Chamber know. Send your nominees to the e-mail address provided above.

Another project the Chamber is looking to complete in 2019 is new telephone directories. It’s been about 4 or 5 years since the last directory was published and things get outdated quickly. This is a big project and it will take your help and cooperation. Starting today if you want your phone number published in the directory, again contact me at the e-mail address listed above. If you only have a cell phone as your home phone, please provide that if you wish. We recognize that a lot of households only have cell phones and that’s what makes this directory unique. We will publish your cell number in it if you provide it to us.

That’s it for now. A lot to look forward to. Get your Queen of Hearts tickets at Green River Golf Course now, it benefits the American Legion. I hear another Queen of Hearts benefiting Walnut Days may be starting soon as well. More information coming.

Have a great week and shop Walnut.
