Chamber Corner: Fall Fest, Garage Sales and a big Thank You

Summer is about over. School starts in one week. I don’t know about you, but Fall has become my favorite time of year.

One of the biggest reasons is Fall Fest on Main. We are really excited to reveal the schedule, brochures, etc. for this year’s event in a couple of weeks.

We have some new events planned for 2019 that I think you will enjoy. The bands are lined up and we are deep in planning all the activities.

Sponsorship letters have been sent out. If you haven’t received one and you or your business would like be a sponsor, please contact me at director@walnutillinois.com. We are very grateful for our sponsors year in and year out. They are the reason we can continue to host this festival year in and year out and why our profits from the day can be donated to a worthwhile project in Walnut.

As of today, I don’t know if we will be able to utilize the Liberty Square space on Main Street for Fall Fest, but if not we are looking forward to using that space to enhance our festival in future years. Thank you to Travis Schier of Schier Landscaping for preparing the ground and seeding recently. And thank you to the volunteers for keeping it watered each day.

Speaking of watering, I also want to thank Brian Smith for watering the flowers on Main Street all summer long. Brian does a lot of things behind the scenes that no one notices to make our town great. He doesn’t want the credit, but he certainly deserves a thank you if see him around.

Don’t forget Town-wide Garage Sales will be coming soon. They will be held September 13 and 14. Start making plans now for your sale and get your listings into Angie at the Leader the week prior. We will be sure to post on the Walnut, Illinois Facebook page.

That’s it for this week. Like I said before, lots of Fall Fest on Main information coming. Stay tuned. Shop Walnut!
